Tom Hanks has made the suggestion that Idris Elba should be selected to play the next iteration of James Bond. Elba has been linked to the famous Ian Fleming character for some time now but has kept quiet on the matter. His new film, Luther: The Fallen Sun, sees his character order a martini, which some fans viewed as something of a Bond audition.
In response to the martini scene, Elba told the Radio Times: “My Bond audition? Oh my God, no! I’ve been saying for years, no… The martini line is a bit cheeky, isn’t it?”
Meanwhile, Hanks backed him for Bond, telling the BBC: “Understand this, James Bond has a licence to kill. I would issue that licence to Idris Elba just based on the work that I’ve seen him do.”
Hanks has also opened up on his debut novel, The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece, saying: “I have pulled every single one of those moments of behaviour myself on a set… Not everybody is at their best every single day on a motion picture set…”
He added: “I’ve had tough days trying to be a professional when my life has been falling apart in more ways than one, and the requirement for me that day is to be funny, charming and loving – and it’s the last way I feel.”
I enjoyed his portrayal of Bond. He was pure bad ass.
Connery was suave and sophisticated and a bad ass.
Moore was a comedian.
Nnnooooooo. Not only no but fk no!!
Blacks should come up with their own ideas and stardom. Stop pandering to them by giving them our heritage. Blacks staring in their own movies, and to make them big have a couple trashy white girls as supporting actors. Got em this far with it!!
Same here, even though I’m a big Connery fan.
Bring no one forward from the Craig era, get out of London for the entire story (so tired of looking at MI6), and instead bring back some goddamn humor, as Joe Don Baker as Brad Whitaker was in Dalton's first outing in "The Living Daylights".
Do a small story and let Hardy chew up the scenery, it's a no-brainer, then set up it up for a sequel against a real villain.
Oh hell no. If the Brocolli family wants to ruin Bond forever, at least use Michael Fassbender as evil Bond.
Actually, you know who sHanks wants to play? An epic biopic of Jefferson Davis. I shit you not. He can't get it made.
Idris Elba does not look like Jame Bond.
Also Daniel Craig always looked like he was sucking a lemon.
I hope the owners of James Bond franchise will not hire someone who wears a skinny suit.
Mope.
James Bond is set in stone.
Now, he could be the next 007 .
Connery was the best, but he’s not English. At least Elba is English.
Pleanty O’Toole: “Hi I’m Plenty”
Bond: “Of course you are”
I wonder what he meant by that....

I can get behind fassbender as evil Bond but Sean Bean already did evil 006.
I only mentioned Cavill because he is a stickler for cannon. Which I admire in an actor. They are usually morons.
An unknown would be best at this point. Same for Superman. Worked great for the greatest superhero movie of all time with Christopher Reeve.
Who’s going to play Tom Hanks in The Life And Times Of Jeffery Epstein?
Plenty - “Hi I’m Plenty...”
Bond - “But of course you are.”
Plenty - “...Plenty O’Toole”
Bond - “Named after your father perhaps.”

The details are complicated, but James Bond is going out of copyright in the 2030s. If the laws aren’t changed and the estate and MGM don’t have really devious lawyers, anybody will be able to play Bond and do what they want with him.
