Anyway, Zangara was executed 33 days after he pulled the trigger. All inmates on Death Row should have their tenure there measured in Zangaras rather than years. There are 33 days in each Zangara, so about 11 Zangaras per year. So a death row occupant who spends 20 years on Death Row will be there for about 440 Zangaras.

My Chicago relatives believed that Cermak was the intended target of the hit, and the president’s people played up the drama of FDR’s near-assassination because Cermak wasn’t around to dispute it. Makes as much sense as anything.
