The leagues were called the Negro leagues. The biggest league for black players was called the Negro National League; that was its name.

I’ve heard some sports guys stumble over this and call them the “black” leagues, probably because the term “Negro” has fallen into disuse in recent decades. So people are afraid to say “Negro” out loud.

Maybe they should change the name. Maybe something like:

Non White Baseball Players who had to former their own league over 75 years ago, where you can read about the Non White players’ history on the MLB website, but white sports announcers cannot say....

You know, something like that......

That's smart. If I'm the sports announcer I would refer to them as the Black leagues or the segregated leagues. Even though Negro is not a bad word and it means Black in Spanish. But we can't taken any chances with the "Woke Police".

Agree. They referred to Obama as the Magic Negro.
