If that is what I think it is, it is newer. We used a bent paper clip if we needed it. I started at age 13 at IIT using FORTRAN and IITRAN. Used BBS’s early on before the internet, mostly the library.
that’s a sort needle or a sight needle. Also used to plow thru hanging chads. Also not the type I used but I couldn’t find a photo.
