I've been pointing out that people charging their vehicles are prey for any predators for several hours. And the predators will know it. Whereas you can get in and out of a gas station in minutes.

Even gassing up can be dangerous in the bad and marginal parts of town. Gas stations are a favorite place for car jackers. And for those who are not aware. Today's anti-theft systems in new automobiles are very effective. This leads car thieves to try and steal your automobile when you have the keys (or fob) in your hand or in the ignition. Such as when gassing up and you are distracted.

Minutes of vigilance beats hours of vigilance.

And you can choose between many more places where you're likely to be a victim, and plan accordingly.

This is why I always lock my car and put the keys in my pocket, on the side opposite my holster.
