Think of how we got stuck with Bill ‘Peyronie’ Clinton ... Perot split the R vote.

Many of the Perot voters I knew were Democrats who didn't like Clinton or who just wanted to shake up the system. When I went through the numbers it would have taken 2/3 of the Perot voters to vote for Bush to change the election.

This is easily explained.

Those whose first vote was for a loser, will receive an automatic immediate do-over, an EXTRA vote. One person, one vote . . . so passé.

Not only literacy tests but also history and civics tests. If a citizen doesn’t know about American History and a basic understanding of how our government works they don’t deserve to vote.

> “majoritarian failure” occurs in 95 of the 182 elections in our database. In practice, if no candidate receives an initial majority then it is very likely that no candidate ever will.

If majoritarian failure occurs and no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast it should be a failed election. Ha, it’s almost like that Libertarian trope about how voting for “none of the above” should be allowed so voters can send a message.

RCV is not really a “runoff” election, because the voters are not privy to the information about the choices available in the rounds. In a real runoff the votes are informed by the candidates available. I see this as a counter to the perception that RCV “fairly represents the voters’ intention”.

The only reason Demonocrats would want it is if it enabled them to cheat.
