It’s not gender, it’s sex, and you can’t choose your sex. Sex is binary: there are two possible values and only two. There is no value in-between the two, and there is no moving from one value to the other.
A person can ALREADY choose the race by which he wants to be identified. Obama chose black, and not white. He had one black parent and one white. He chose to be identified as black. He could have chosen white.
A person with ONE great-great-great grandparent who was black can choose to be identified as black.
Kamala Harris has an Indian parent and a Jamaican parent. She passes as black.
It’s just that no white is allowed to declare himself black in order to gain all the privileges that go with that choice. Rachel Dolezal, for example.
So you have to have some black in your background before you can declare yourself as black, or else you are shunned, fired, canceled, ostracized and condemned.
Totally defies logic.
I identify as a black cat.
I identify as a millionaire and Jamie Diamond better give me my millions.
I wonder; according to my ancestry.com DNA test I am 13% black.
Does that mean I can claim to be “black”?
