"the cops don’t really help much in many circumstances"

The point in my previous post is that the cops are usually unable to "help." You cannot take action against someone who has committed no crime.

How would you handle a noise complaint between two neighbors? You respond to the complaint but no crime has been committed. You tell them to turn the noise down, and you leave. An hour later one neighbor kills the other. Is that the cops fault?

Where I live you can issue a ticket for a noise complaint. And if it continues arrest them. Most places have such ordinances.

I’m watching 20/20 right now and the cops failed this girl from her ex. It’s the University of Utah episode. She kept calling and reporting being stalked and the cops did nothing. Didn’t even try. They simply ignored her until she was taken.
