Government employee here - the government loves the ‘woke’ BS, but they also require key positions to know what they’re doing. I’m in a relatively key position with the appropriate (and not needed in the 90s and earlier) certification. So I can see around the BS for now.
A government contractor - may be subject to drug testing, possibly a security clearance also. I’ve dealt with both as an employee, although I sometimes wonder about the psychological test I had to take in 2001. LOL
Main thing to me - if you know your stuff and are good at it, you have a very high probability to getting the position.
I’d be working for a third party company. They saved healthcare.gov with a very small team. So not a direct government employee. Background check, etc, not a big deal. No drug test that I know of and 100% remote.
