Spanish Navy ship sent to draw up maps loses its way
(snip) “A Spanish Navy ship tasked with updating nautical charts to make navigation safer got stranded on Thursday near the island of Ibiza in the Mediterranean, the Navy said.
The vessel Malaspina was exploring an area of shallows to the west of the island and got stuck on one of them. Rescue teams have been sent to help remove the vessel from the ground, the Navy said in a statement.
It is named after 18th-century Royal Navy Brigadier Alejandro Malaspina, famous for leading the largest scientific expedition around the globe at the time.
The name can also be translated into English as ‘having a bad feeling’...”

Two train cars plunge into river after Wisconsin train derailment
When I was in High School I went fishing with my dad and Granddad out of Harker's Island, NC. My granddad had a 32' Hatteras with twin diesels. We were on our way out one morning approaching Cape Lookout Coast Guard station when we ran aground, in the MIDDLE of the marked channel. In the process we sheared off the port prop.
The port side was about 2.5' deep while to starboard you couldn't see bottom. We had to wait for the tide to lift us off before we could return to the Harker's Marina.
My Granddad was rather hacked off with the Coast Guard. Then we find out that Jimmy Harker's Charter boat, the Cape Lookout ferry, AND the Coast Guard had all been aground the week before, in the same spot, AT THE SAME TIME.
