I believe this phenomenon reaches beyond those with dementia. My brother who is an attorney in a small Midwest farming community has told me time and again that when he gets a call from an aged farmer who is not terminally ill that his radar goes up when the farmer says he has decided to have a will drafted. My brother instinctively knows from experience that he better meet with the farmer at the earliest possible time because he has seen too many instances when the ‘old man’ calling intuitively senses the grim reaper is at the door. Sometimes he gets the will drafted and signed before the old man departs but there are times when he has been called into probate to testify from his notes on how the deceased wanted his property distributed.
It seems to be rather common................
A prison sentence? They finally caught up with him?
It couldn't come any sooner or worser, damned him and the liars at Mayo anyway.
I am always concerned when I have a particularly lucid moment...
I based my comment on a study that was done showing people pulled out of their dementia when taken off of statins. After the study, they were put back on the statins, as that’s the standard treatment for high levels of LDL. Obviously that wouldn’t apply to these final-stage situations, so my comment was half-sarcasm.
Both excellent accounts
It’s not uncommon for elderly patients suffering with UTI to be diagnosed with the start of dementia.
