In the town where I grew up they had a fancy store. Back one day in college I was home (40+ years ago) and they had a conveyor belt that looped out to the sidewalk where you could pick up your phone order. All the goods were in big plastic bins, and a person would find your order and take the bags out of the bins and put them in your car at the curb.
I’m surprised that model didn’t take off even more during Covid.
25 years ago when our kids were babies I thought that a drive-through window at the store would be a good idea. Car with a couple of colicky babies that had finally fallen asleep and all you needed was to pick up a prescription and some milk - it would have been nice to just drive up!
I vaguely remember that, not seeing it in person but reading about it and the photos.
I like working on and tweaking and adjusting an order over a long period of time (months or even a year or more for me)and then when ready, hitting the go button.
For me today is better, you park your car and they roll out your entire order.
For frozen foods, it is even better than rolling around the store and then having to wait in the checkout line, as it is, they have freezers where your frozen goods are already gathered and waiting to be sent out to you when the moment comes.
