If it isn’t about private right, why is it in the Bill of Rights? That’s a weird place to put something about forming a militia.
There was practically an 80 year window where “Progressive” types ran both parties and the judiciary, not to mention the nation was largely homogenous in culture and religion and trust in government and institutions was near absolute.
They could have more or less banned firearms, or even possibly repealed the 2nd. But, they didn’t. Now? Today?? Fuggedaboutit. They really stepped in it.
What’s notable about the Bill of Rights is that they mostly all talk about what government can’t do. And the rights that are recognized are all about the individual - “the people”.
That man believes the founding fathers - fresh from using private firearms to fight a tyrannical government - wrote a constitution to limit firearm ownership to the government.
