I think its idiotic for Trump to be able to cakewalk into the General Election contest. It would be like eliminating the Regular Season and first rounds of the playoffs and sending a team into the World Series being rusty and unprepared for the final contest. What is needed is a healthy respectful debate of issues, management styles, and policies/views by several strong candidates in the GOP.
Also telling DeSantis to not run now is akin to telling Reagan to not run in 1976 & saying that if he ran that he’d be destroying his politics future. Reagan did lose in 1976 to Ford. But look what happened in 1980 and 1984. If Reagan hadn’t run in 1976 then he likely never would’ve been President.
The whole idea of having DeSantis not run seems to be an effort to make sure the Democrats win the 2024 presidential election. I’ll have respect for those with this idea if they’ll be honest that this is their intent.
Does anyone really think DeSantis isn't going to run now? My God, he'd like the biggest pu$$y if he backed out now. He'd be accused of bending the knee to Trump's taunts. He'd be done.
Worst thing that can happen is he runs and loses the primary, setting him up for an even stronger run in 2028 after eight straight years of Democrat ineptitude.
That seems to be the sentiment that animates Trump supporters. They glory in being part of a losing campaign so they can whine and moan about how it was all stolen from them
