That's a great point. Homo sapiens was fundamentally different prior to about 40KYA; and, frankly, very stupid as compared with modern humans. Then it all suddenly changed. Of course that would be considered "racist" by those who think science is subject to political correctness, and therefore will not admit that the archaic Homo sapiens "out of Africa" were completely absorbed and eliminated as a distinct subspecies by the new version. But, as usual, their reasoning is total garbage. ALL OF US now are the modern Homo sapiens, regardless of where our ancestors came from.
When the massive D Allele mutation was discovered, in about 2004, paleogeneticists immediately hypothesized that it may have been introduced from interbreeding with Neanderthal. But subsequent testing of Neanderthal DNA had ruled this out by about 2010. H. Neanderthalensis lacked the mutation and could not have contributed it.
Neanderthalensis really got the sh!t end of the stick.
