USS Milius (DDG-69)
Welcome aboard the U.S. Navy’s 19th Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer, USS MILIUS! We are extremely proud of this great warship and her vast accomplishments. Since commissioning on November 23, 1996, her dedicated service has included six deployments and Battle Efficiency Awards in 1998, 2002, and 2013. MILIUS is built around the Aegis combat system and the SPY-1D multi-function phased array radar. A multi-mission capable ship, MILIUS is designed to perform anti-air, anti-submarine, surface, and strike warfare simultaneously. She is also a Ballistic Missile Defense platform, capable of providing theater and homeland protection through her ability to detect, track, and engage ballistic missiles.
USS Milius (DDG-69) has the motto “Alii Prae Me,” meaning “Others Before Myself”.
ALii Prae Me, or “Others Before Myself,” was chosen to reflect the personal ethic held throughout Captain Milius’ military career and his selfless act under fire.

The significant A.I. companies include Google, MSFT, Amazon, FB and a handful of other very large large American and Chinese firms.
But Aegis is an autonomous killer robot which has been deployed by the U.S. since the 1980s or earlier. It represents the future of warfare, because humans cannot react fast enough to keep up with incoming hypersonic missiles for example, or the environment of space for satellite killers, or thousands of swarming drones. Robots are also immune to biological warfare.
The Aegis defenses may already deploy A.I.-controlled beam weapons as well (lasers, directed microwaves etc.). American defense contractors are starting to hint at this in 10Q filings.
A.I. is quietly approaching like a tsunami that is still crossing the ocean.
I love that...”Others before myself.”
I’ll figure out how to pronounce that and use it on my grandkids. Ha, I have this pet peeve about them saying “me and so and so...” I was using the JOY acronym, which is Jesus, Others, and You, trying to explain or get them to remember proper English and a lesson about putting others first.
Hopefully one or the other will stick.
Thanks for sharing this interesting story about the USS Millius!
