I know both Florida and Florida State well, being a graduate of the University of Florida College of Law and then spending more than three decades as a resident of Tallahassee. On the whole, University of Florida (tied for #29 in the US News national rankings) has more academic heft than FSU (#55), but both of them and Florida’s other major state universities are on the upswing due to years of strong funding in a rapidly growing state.
I will say, that Ben Sasse is probably about as conservative as you will get for a Major University President. Liberal heads are exploding over his appointment.
