Bingo! Add to that the government paying some farmers to keep land fallow (to keep from oversupplying the food market and making it hard for farmers to make profit).

Every time a Dim wails about feeding the poor I throw these two government policies in their face and tell them to change their cult government ways if they really want more food for the poor (and cheaper food).

A top of all above, a lot of land is taken from agriculture for solar cells and windmills!
A lot of land is confiscated to create all kind of parks and wilderness.
