I have no precious metals. I was buffeted about for using the word “we”, generically and now suffer a case of pause. I used first person “my”, which implied that I did. 😁
I’m confused about coins being filled, or less than a troy ounce, or too valuable for a loaf of bread, or finding a hidey hole, or Who’s going to give me change? 🙄

We purchase silver...at $25.00 it’s easy to buy small items (not that we spend it - we accumulate it).
I’m not concerned that it is filled with ‘crap’ — we also purchase from a local dealer who has been at the same location for 30+ years...
The premium per ounce has fluctuated quite a bit in the last year: from $3.00 per oz. to $5.00 per oz.
Perhaps this helps?
Get some small coins even though they cost more. If you can find silver “shot” that’s an easy one to weigh out small amounts. Change may be a problem in a SHTF scenario. What would likely happen is you’d spend an entire coin of multiple things while making a deal.
