It seems the urge for monarchy is deep in the human psyche. Look how society fawns over celebrities.

True and in our modern day society monarchies are presented as beautiful, movie star quality, fairy tale persona and life. Allowing people to vicariously live through them just like celebrities.

When monarchies attitudes towards the citizen serf was more like a master-slave type relationship. Not the fairy tale image presented today.

“the urge for monarchy?” Yup , it goes back as far as you want to study. The Bible describes it very well. First the Hebrews had Abraham who was more of a warrior and tribal leader than king. But then a couple centuries later they demanded a king and got David. Every group you can think of as far back as you want to look has wanted a strong leader. In my view mostly because the general population is lazyass and wants someone else to do the heavy thinking. You’re watching it happen to us (US) right now.
