I trust jmbullion.com. I’ve made some large purchases from them (poor mailman) that arrived in tact. They have a lot of small coins down to the 1/10th ounce level. But, the smaller coins carry a premium.

Just an example but in recent times I’ve bought some stuff thru Ebay. Get on the US mint mailing list to see what they are actually making. That, in turn , will tell you what the market is for newish production stuff.
Many of the volume dealers sell on Ebay and frequently sell under the Mint price, especially for stuff made a few years back. Buying graded stuff is more interesting to me.
If you want to buy older coins you need a reference book to know rareity, etc. Didn’t say it was easy. As with cows, cars, motorcycles, guns or anything else with real value it’s necessary to study a bit before you jump in.
