I dont know if it was Gods will, just speculating of course. Just seems this was the case of someone preaching to live by the sword ends up dyeing by the sword. I would assume the others were there to support him and his viewpoint..so there is that...If they were not supporters of his viewpoint it wouldn’t be the first time God (if it was him) took some innocent along with the guilty...
