Thank you, meyer and ppd, for bringing me back to the Trigger Point Therapy Workbook. As I proceed through training for the Alexander Technique -- basically a gentle method of release, relaxation and retraining to prevent your body from even developing trigger points -- I have developed tightness in the mid back. The Alexander Technique has you relearn how you hold your body, starting at the neck, and this can also elevate some previous aches and pains, I've discovered. I hadn't thought to apply the trigger point method to these aches and pains. I think it's helping already.

The aches are coming from the mid-back, just below the shoulder blades. I have begun working on trigger points in that area as well as in the buttocks, with a ball about the size of a tennis ball (only harder) between me and a yoga mat. I already feel like I've made some progress.

By the way, it's kind of a vocation of mine to investigate methods of wellness that are astonishingly effective. I call them "black swans of wellness". The trigger point method was one of the first black swans I experienced. Niacin also qualifies.

You might look into cupping for your back also. It helps me with “computer triangle” between my shoulder blades. I also use a Triggerpoint ball in between sessions. I just roll my back on it against the wall. Great release for hips and glutes after sitting for hours at a computer.

Pain slide.. and I know we are nearing festival, but this is quite fascinating.

Very interesting about niacin. There is a product called Enuracin, I think it’s wax coated niacin which eliminates the flush.

High doses of niacin, like 3000 will reduce cholesterol and even higher cures schizophrenia.

I know I am somewhat deficient in magnesium and don’t tolerate most types well.. but I’ve been taking a glycinate and it’s helping me sleep.

Which brings me to the niacin deficiency and makes me wonder if many mentally ill people are deficient?

Instead, a doc throws a pill at you or some sort of therapy, tells you you are crazy and sends you to a doctor who removes your boy or girl bits and says.. “that’ll be better.”
