An employee at a Family Dollar in Arizona was arrested for fatally shooting a shoplifter who slugged him in the face when the worker asked him to leave, reports said.
The employee, Kevin Salas Madrid, encountered the alleged serial shoplifter inside the Phoenix store near 68th Avenue and Indian School Road just before 8 p.m. Wednesday and warned the suspect to stop stealing and exit the dollar store, according to KTVK/KPHO.
The pair then began arguing when the shoplifter punched Madrid in the face, at which point the store worker pulled a gun and opened fire, the outlet reported. He allegedly shot the suspect 10 times and continued to unleash bullets even as the man was on the floor, FOX 10 Phoenix reported.

I’m not seeing a problem here. Not guilty.
Dead is dead.
"Why did you shoot that man 10 times?".
Kevin Madrid:
"I ran out of bullets.".
So you’re supposed to allow someone to beat you without defending yourself? What’s the critical number of blows you must receive before you can fight back? 2?, 5?, 10? Are you a New Yorker?
A single punch isn’t likely to be legally construed as deadly force, allowing deadly self defense. It certainly is sufficient provocation to change murder to manslaughter.
XD XD XD... put on your glasses Mtn!
Brought a fist to a gun fight. Too stupid to live.

A single punch to the head has killed many people, especially elderly, children and people with disabilities and chronic diseases.
You never can tell until it happens.
ALSO, who’s to say she’d only be punched once?
The gunfire stopped the threat.
10 rounds sounds excessive, but it only takes a few seconds to empty a pistol’s magazine. Cops do this all the time.
“Not a hot woman.”

You can bet that if the prosecutor in this case had had "hands laid on him or her" in the exact same same manner, with the exact same response, that The System would be scrambling to justify the actions of its legal operative.
The poor sap at the Family Dollar is guilty of being poor and having to work for a living, instead of having a government grift.
Mr. black shoplifter can go to hell along with anyone who thinks he has any right to shoplift. Like these idiot woke politicians do. They’re actually partially responsible for this for making so many people think they have a right to steal and shoplift from anyone.
How does anyone know what’s in the mind of the attacker? One punch is indicative of a willingness to assault and who knows how far the attacker intends to take it? Should the victim wait until he’s seriously injured before fighting back? If I were on the jury it would be an immediate not guilty.
Scott Adams has pointed out that brain damage can kill a person without killing them - by destroying the pre-punch individual's mental processes.
I can kill you with one punch.
Why did he shoot the perp ten times?
Because that’s all the ammo he had.😁
The “Not Guilty” term is usually reserved for hot women who have sex with 17 yo students or something like that. “Kevin” is not a hot woman and not a woman at all, but I think an exception can be made to declare a dude is “Not Guilty”. It was an attempt at humor.
Decent lawyer is likely to get her off especially in front of a jury with a majority of women and Hispanics. When the publicity dies down the DA will offer a very lenient deal. She may want to go to trial because any admission of guilt will make civil lawsuits from the thief’s family more likely to be successful.
It’s not unreasonable to assume that someone punching you in the head after a verbal altercation after he’s been caught in a criminal act, might win the fight and obtain your firearm.
As to the ten shots, a lot would depend on timing. Ten rapid shots are different than one, long pause, then nine.
The statement about the decision can also be read a couple ways depending on context. Best to clam up until you lawyer is there, but it’s no confession at all.
Might be righteous, might be murder, can’t tell from the story and I think a jury might be pretty sympathetic to the armed clerk at this point in time.
