Not sure I can help you SB, but may be joining you soon. Wait until you hear this.
I work for a large multinational company and am just enough up the food chain that I was scheduled for a one hour “Business Integrity” online seminar. Seems there was a high up person that had a “issue” with trying to get business in a less than honest country and cost the company a lot of money as a result of some shenanigans (trying to keep this generic but provide the gist of it). This of course means the underlings must be trained not to do such things.
Now it’s not too big a deal to listen on one monitor while working on another to get through things like this. However I caught wind of a comment that “we need to be aware of this, as it can cause issues with something called the D of Jay, and SE See”. To combat this, the company would be looking into using a company called Transparency International to “help us” to be compliant in looking out for corruption issues.
Ok, this set off my Corrupto Alarm.
Within a few minutes, I had looked the transparency organization up on the web (US branch!), gone to the “Who are We” page, and quickly started noticing some of the backgrounds of the steering committee. Phrases like “Fund for Constitutional Government”, “dedicated political activist”, “expert on issues of corporate responsibility” (from a guy looking sub 35) were quickly highlighted from a screen grab. The coue de grassee (intentional misspells) was from one lady that worked “as an investigator for Senator Carl Levin (D-MI), including 15 years at the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations”.
&*$%^@& seriously???!!!
The meeting with over 80 people globally was coming to a close, and the person running it was having a hard time getting anyone to put out any questions in the chat bar. And then I had an epiphany.
What would Bagster ask?
Yeah, fart in a quiet movie theatre time again...
My submitted question: “The Transparency group you mentioned seems to have a lot of people connected to different financial funds and government officials in the US. Are we sure we should be using them for integrity directions??”
(Tense pause after the moderator read off the question aloud without reading it first...)
“We’ll look into this and get back to you offline...”
Luckily FR qthreads have taught me how to garden. I should have some free time soon!

Hold on to your hat.
In between looking for a new job I’ll be doing a lot of work in the woods cleaning up after the last snow storm (it’s epic) and working in NH. I’m going to enjoy the lack of stress.

Anything drawing the attention of -both- the DoJ and the SEC is serious business.

Sounds like thy company was “assuming the Sale”, which might translates into thy company assuming they were talking to incurious idiots.
Then came a dreaded surprise. You.
These totalitarians are lodged everywhere. Typically they all react to wanting someone like you off lined and off loaded, silenced.
They tell you who they are. You may as well believe them.
Prayers up for you at your work, and for your Lived activism.🇺🇲
Wow, good for you! Let us know what happens.
