Perhaps more importantly is when social support systems induce lower IQ to reproduce. Great example is aid to dependent children, the more low income women stay home and have kids the more they get paid. Where as an intelligent woman goes to college, gets a job, house, savings account and has little time to reproduce.

That’s a better reason than I gave. I think my point applies more to medical conditions. Those in the past with genetic defects would tend to live short lives and have fewer children. Today our medical technology keeps them alive and they have lots of children, but the genetic defect is passed on as well.
