I did the same thing as a sub post retirement from higher education. I found I could never again abide public schools, students or administrators. I could have handled the situation (insubordination) but found no support from the principal who was dressed as a clown (it was Halloween eve). But for all I know, he may have really been a clown,
Usual suspects? Appears so
And will continue to do so.
My wife retired from teaching when Obummer got selected, twenty-seven years at the high school that she graduated from.
It seems this student's TikTok handle is: @sweet.trashysam
At least, I think that's his handle. I don't do social media, so I don't really know what hashtags, etc. are.
Uh - it’s not working.
I don't gamble nor do I participate in stupid hypothetical challenges.......
My oldest child graduated high school in the ‘90s, at a top-rated high school in the suburbs. Even back then, my son’s English teacher said it was nearly impossible to discipline students. He said that back in the day, if a kid got in trouble at school, the kid also got in trouble at home. But it changed so that when a kid got in trouble at school, the parents came in to complain about the teacher. This same teacher was the yearbook advisor and once threw a Snapple bottle at my son. I asked my son what he had done to prompt that response. He said he had been mouthing off. He wasn’t upset at the teacher.
North Korea is more civilized than large portions of the US.
This is a problem long in the making. When teachers don’t gain the respect of students it’s too late. When government doesn’t have the respect of citizens, it’s too late. Same for parents.
Teenz
Will she end up teaching at some other school with a selection of more supremier students?
Reminds me of one time when I was in 4th or 5th grade when we had a substitute teacher, who happened to be the mother of a playmate of mine ( not in the class ) about three houses up the street, right across from the school, as a matter of fact.
She was reading to us from some book, when Phil Diparisi ( why would I remember his name ? ) decided to get up and go get a drink of water in the hallway. He was getting near the classroom door when the teacher put the book down on her lap and bellowed, “SI-DOWNNN !” ... and Phil scurried back to his seat.
Obviously, this made a big impression on me!
Too late. Many of our high school graduates can't read. Some schools in this country have zero students who are at grade level in math or reading.
Liberals have made a mess of our schools...
I see. I thought your response to the member was that of a curmudgeon.
Yeah, that backfired on us once. We had a sub for German class, a very nice older lady with a German accent. So we all switched names. Had a good time with it. Then a few weeks later our pregnant teacher had problems with her baby and had to take her leave early, and they brought the nice German lady in as our teacher for the rest of the year. Poor thing never could get our names straight, even after we admitted what we had done.
Not related to your reply but, the Marines did a study and found out that just a couple of malcontents would influence an entire platoon's attitude.
I took that to heart and looked for those two in each of my classes right off at the beginning of a semester. They usually revealed themselves by day 3 and we had an outside the door heart to heart. That fixed it, they could drop the class or fix their attitudes. It went both ways.
