When I went to my 50th High School reunion, I was asked to speak - since I was the only thing that passed for a celebrity from our class - and I was introduced as "Lieutenant Colonel Chainmail".
When I got to the podium, I told them that, "400 years from now, archeologists would find my headstone, carefully brush the dirt from the letters on it and read "LtCol Chainmail, USMC, (ret)" and then look at each other and say "I wonder why he didn't make Colonel?"
