If McV talked, a person with evidence of a US spooky past could give up the three-letter agency types that set him up on his mission. Many people just might believe him and that truth would have stayed as a small part of the record forever. It could have eventually exploded wide open. (It may yet with the Snodgres testimony.)
With the '93 bombers, there were doubtless several layers of separation between them and the Bush/Kurintong types. And who's going to believe a foreigner with that kind of story on their lips back thirty years ago?
