Coming up on the 26th of this month we have a big nautical anniversary. It is the 250th anniversary of something that still affects the US Navy. Let's see if anyone can figure out what it was.

This work was supported and rewarded with thousands of pounds from the Board of Longitude,[24] but he fought to receive money up to the top reward of £20,000, finally receiving an additional payment in 1773 after the intervention of parliament
