Ron DeSantis’ nightmare scenario: How the Florida governor could become the man who signs Donald Trump’s arrest warrant if former president refuses to go to New York voluntarily to face charges
New York grand jury is expected to hand down Trump indictment in coming days
Prosecutors would most likely work with his legal team to arrange his surrender
But Trump could refuse to come to Manhattan, piling pressure on Ron DeSantis

If a New York grand jury indicts Donald Trump in connection with hush money payments to Stormy Daniels, it could deliver another twist to the bitter rivalry between the former president and his likely rival for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
For if Trump refuses to travel from his Mar-a-Lago home to surrender voluntarily to police in Manhattan, it would fall to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to sign a local arrest warrant.
The situation may be hypothetical but it is one of the potential scenarios that could play out if the nation enters the uncharted territory of a former president — and a current presidential candidate — being indicted.
And it could put DeSantis in a terrible bind.
Legal experts say he would have little choice but to authorize the extradition of a Florida resident to New York, knowing that he will be forever blamed by the Trump base as the man who signed the former president’s arrest warrant.
What DeSantis would have to do is called a "governor's warrant". That warrant reads like any other warrant...the elements of the crime that was *supposedly* committed are listed.
However, the Governor doesn't have to sign it. It's an extradition warrant, which puts Pres. Trump under the control of New York state. So DeSanitmonious doesn't HAVE to sign it.
Think of the position this puts DeSanty in. He's already pussied out with his lack-luster "defense" of Trump. And now, with one little signature, he can hand over his frenemy to the real enemies.
Part of me really wants Trump to refuse to show up and, like a gentleman, accept the arrest warrant. Trollism at its most glorious!
