Total 100% pure and unadulterated bs.
As pointed out, California had nothing to do with slavery.

Has any other nation contemplated such nonsense? Has the Marxist house of equity,Venezuela? Couloombia? Working man’s Nicaragua?

This is Newsom’s scheme to buy votes without paying anything.

Scheme sounds like a Nancy Pelosi gimmick to get votes.

This is all for show; yet another political show which is how California government, for the most part, functions.

California's Democrat/Communist regime has nearly bankrupted this once-wealthy state and, unlike the federal government, California cannot print money.

I expect that a token payment (somthing under $1000) will ultimately be extracted from taxpayers who never owned a slave in a vain attempt to quiet the tribal screams of the state's negroes who never were slaves. (An exception would be Elon Musk who, despite being "african-american" will not qualify because ... well ... you know.) This of course won't work as there is never enough to placate the crocodile tears of state-trained "victims" of some imaginary personal affront.

As an alternative to cash payments to this massive extortionist cult, the state could provide for a tax deduction on the "victim's" tax return (I suppose the recipient of the tax break would need to include a photo with a return ... I'm certain some unelected but powerful bureaucrat could come up with a tax form or a tax schedule to do so.) But of course this wouldn't work either because, again, ... well ... you know ... this would require a "victim" to be a productive, taxpaying citizen (and voter) of California to receive this newest "entitlement".
