Good evening fellow Freepers. I just got me a Roku device and I'm looking for suggestions for what I should add to my channel lineup.
I got some already, but I'm looking for more conservative news channels as well as family friendly movie/TV channels to subscribe to.
Thanks all!
There are a lot of good channels on Roku such as Tubi, and Roku. If you look at the streaming channel index you can find a lot of Retro TV channels. We quit Dish and have not looked back.
Tubi is pretty good.

I do an amount of watching youtube on my roku tv which actually surprises me. Lots of history stuff and whatnot.
Rumble also has a roku app.
And I listen to a lot of podcasts on the Spotify roku app.
Filmrise is another free movie app. and it has apps for particular genre too, such as scifi, western, mystery etc. in case you have a specific interest and dont want to spend the time sorting through the entire catalog.
That hopefully helps as a general selection to try out. See which kind of thing you prefer and then build your own library of apps on your roku from there.
P.S.: All the above are free with no manditory sign up fees. Spotify has a paid version but you get a lot from the free account.
If you want a FOX news channel. (I do Gutfeld, Tucker, and Bartiromo sometimes)

Believe it or not, I found JD Farag when I installed it. Love his preaching. I also got Rejoice Radio, Rejoice TV and Love Worth Finding. I also got YouTube loaded up as well. Didn’t know Rumble would be there. I’ll look for it.
You might like Right Side News.
HBO, Disney Plus, Netflix, and Amazon Prime.
We watch...
Hulu
Plex
Pluto
Freevee
Amazon prime - almost never watch.
Occasionally subscribe to another channel to watch a specific series only shown there and then cancel after we complete it.
They also have added StarTrek, the original to their line up.
Their Top Gear came first by a decade and a half with hosts who actually had chemistry.
Cool. I got Filmrise added and I also programmed in my Rumble account. I already had Tubi. Thank you!
Got it!
Yep, and OANN.
I haven’t watched Fox News since 2020 and those channels make decent replacements.
I got got Freevee and I already had Pluto. Looking for more free services. Would love to find one that has shows like Star Trek and Stargate (besides Amazon which you have to pay for).

See if they have Rifftrax’s House on Haunted Hill.
You will laugh your 4th point of contact off.
Pluto!
Connect it via WiFi to your home network. It will walk you through the network setup. Then install the apps you want and, if you have an account, sign in with your username and password. They actually make it a LOT easier these days because you can use a computer, phone or tablet on the same network. They give you a URL to go to. Then you enter the code from the tv screen in the computer, phone or tablet and away you go.
Tubi and Pluto-
Have lots and change some content monthly. Have kids sections too.
Freevee-
Has all the Perry Mason series, so it’s one we like to use(they also change some content monthly)
Movieland Tv- not as much of a change monthly, but somehow, some old Disney stuff that we enjoy is on there at times (things like Davy Crockett, Ugly Dachshund, Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, Mary Poppins,Apple Dumpling Gang)
Pluto has its own tv channels where you can binge a show like Andy Griffith or Lucy or Beverly Hillbillies, Gunsmoke,Rawhide.. or more modern shows too. Even some current shows.
“Star Trek and Stargate”
They are on Roku.
if you have a tv with builtin roku, such as TCL, I get hundreds of channels free. No need for philo. They added this about a year ago.
