It’s easier to get a college degree than an actual skill. The market will compensate those who make a more valuable contribution. That’s why tradesmen are earning more than college graduates. It’s as it should be.

More than some college graduates, but not others. There are some highly skilled professionals who are making high salaries. If you are a top programmer, or a top CPA, you will always be employed and making a lot of money.

“It’s easier to get a college degree than an actual skill.”

That’s debatable. A four year degree means finding a way to finance going to classes that have political activism embedded in each course.

Our grandson is getting a job with a local diesel engine maintenance company where they will train him on the job at a reduced wage and upon graduation get the full wage and benefits. This training period is something like 18 months.

Those that choose a trade school are looking at two years. What’s turning students and companies off from trade schools is the curriculum often requires BS subjects that have literally nothing to do being a plumber, mechanic or carpenter. The education people did this decades ago to turn common trade schools into community colleges.

The whole education system needs a complete overhauling to get things back to what they were pre-1990’s when an engineer studied to be an engineer (without all the political indoctrination) and an electrician studied only what it took to be an electrician.
