“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority;
they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise.
Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room.
They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”
- attributed to Socrates
Translation: Today’s kids are all into their tech and not doing anything of value; they are defiant, disrespectful, all talk and no work.
Kids think they rule the roost and fail to help around the house. Kids have no respect for old people.
They argue with their parents, are on their phones when company is over, live on fast food, burp and fart, and give their teachers headaches.

We laugh, and forget that Greek society FELL shortly after Socrates’ observation, being conquered by Alexander and then Rome.
