Thanks for the link. There was one thing, other than the parents who were insistent it wasn't psychosomatic or anything like that:

One young woman I interviewed was close to homeless after she and her mother left her father’s trailer. They’re staying with a friend of a friend while her mother, who was laid off two times in the last year, tries to scrape together first and last month’s rent so they can get a place of their own..."

I don't know. But I do know that trying to understand the minds of adolescent or pre-adolescent females is territory that I know I am not capable of understanding fully.
