I enjoy reading about the American Indian in fighting. Brutal.
The Carribean Indian tribes were interesting reading too.
I read a history book in college that contained testimony by one of the early explorers of the American West. It could have been the Louis & Clark expedition.
The writer describes how one of the tribes with which he traveled enjoyed tormenting the women of a tribe they bested in battle by roasting their infants alive over an open fire while their tied-up mothers screamed hysterically.
After this, the women were murdered. Their men had already been dealt with.
I attended college in the mid-70s. Can you imagine such an assignment being made today?
If you haven't yet read "The Frontiersmen by Allan W. Eckert", your missing an excellent read.. :)
