I can remember, back in 1958, when my future father-in-law quizzed me thoroughly on my conservative philosophies to make sure I was conservative enough for his youngest daughter...
I won him over by describing my WWII years living with my grandparents and how they proved to me that FDR was a communist tool... It also helped that I was a KW veteran (USMC 1951-1957)... That won him over and led to a 47-year friendship and years of political & philosophical discourse...
I married his daughter in April 1960...
Sixty-three years later, my wife is still somewhat to the right of me...

While I was trying to get through college so I could be an Air Force pilot, you were getting married and congratulations on 63 years.
Now the math part. If you went into the Marine Corps at eighteen, you have to be approaching or perhaps already past a very big life anniversary. I might be a youngster by comparison.
