Publishers have reported that audiobook sales are up for the 10th straight year. Details of the increase come from the Audio Publishers Association’s (APA) Sales Survey conducted by InterQ.
The survey shows how audiobook revenue in 2021 was $1.6 billion, marking a 25% increase and the tenth straight year of double digit growth. There were around 74,000 audiobooks sold in 2021, which is 6% more than in 2020.

It’s about time. Reading is a total drag.
I have pretty much given up reading printed books for a couple reasons. My eyes tend to dry out and the print gets blurry. Sitting and reading makes me sleepy and I often nod out. They take up space in my already filled bookshelves.
Some books are only on Kindle which is an improvement in larger fonts and compact storage, but the audiobooks can be used in the car or while walking and exercising which is much healthier than sedentary reading. The only drawback is that they often don’t include chapter titles and don’t have indexes so it is hard to find references quickly without relistening. If they added a search engine index with each non-fiction book that would really help.
Get scribd. If you like psychological thrillers/mysteries. They have some of the best authors/books on there for “free”. It’s way better than the audible “free” selection.
And if you use this link you get 60 days to try it free. BTW: The search kind of stinks so the book may be there I find it best to search on author then click on the authors name after it finds one of their books.

One of my sons turned me on to Hoopla. It’s a streaming service that a lot of public libraries use. If your local library uses it and you have a library card, you can register at Hoopla. You can then borrow 8 audiobooks, ebooks, CDs, or movies a month.
I don’t have much time to read, but I listen to audiobooks while I’m driving, when I’m loading/unloading our truck, cooking, or doing other mindless tasks. You can listen to the audiobooks on your computer/tablet, or download them to your phone.
Am currently reading Eric Metaxas bio of Dietrich Bonhoeffer (great!). Will probably read 2 or 3 hrs today and always fall asleep reading tonight. I always set my reading timer on Audible to 15 minutes so, if I fall asleep, I don't have to rewind too far.
I agree. I can listen to a book while doing busy work or driving.
