For me, progressives’ reaction to the Nashville mass murder is the closing argument in favor of a national divorce. Here we had a transgender murderer specifically targeting Christian children — & progressives’ reaction is … outrage that conservatives aren’t immediately volunteering to foresake their constitutional rights & disarm themselves. What?
In an actual, functional, united country, progressives would extend their sympathies to the Christian community targeted in the attack, and maybe even agree to reappraise their incessant LGBTification of America. Instead many progressive journalists are going the opposite way, citing conservative media outlets in the state, and a recently enacted restriction on drag shows, as an ostensible rationalization for the attack. Today we have news personalities like Joy Ann Reid, and papers like the WaPo, going after conservatives for having the temerity to discuss the role the killer’s transgender identity played in her killing spree, Reid even calling us “dangerous” and “evil.” You can be sure that this is the kind of hyperbolic content that radicalized the killer; if she were alive today, I’m certain she’d be delighted.
To say we lack shared values is understatement; we don’t even live on the same planet. Actually it’s even worse than that as two planets can exist alongside each other in harmony. In this case, progressives outwardly despise conservatives, empowering the state when & wherever possible to attack them. This isn’t healthy. It’s certainly not sustainable. And if we seek a peaceful resolution for our inexorably intensifying internal conflict, merely going our separate ways is the obvious and sane solution.
