Toyota has been manufacturing the Carolla continuously since 1966.....there’s a reason for that.
In contrast the domestics quit making the camaro, mustang and the Mopar models and had to go back to them to stimulate sales....always wondered about that.
Camaros have been in production every year since they were introduced.
Toyota started building cars for populations who don’t have resources to upgrade every few years. They needed well built cars to succeed.
America car buyers want the latest model and follow fads and used to have (now, had) the resources. When the belts tighten, people don’t switch so often and want long lasting products.
Not sure if they do it with the trucks, but Toyota runs new designs in Japan for 5 years before bringing them to American market. If they’re not solid proven design/performers, they don’t bring them.
Yes, and many newer ones share parts with older models. My 2003 Corolla uses the same interior door handles as my 1980 Starlets used to have, same identical handle. Smart!
Paid 3 grand for the Corolla, with 87,000 miles on it. As clean and runs as well as a new one. Can’t get much more economical than that, imo!
Just recently bought a 2007 4Runner in Tampa w 107k on it. I’ll drive it in Florida for years to come, if the eco-commies don’t screw things up.
