Three decades later, I am still blaming "Big Lard," the sugar lobby and and the the salt industry for taking them so soon.

My own Gramma would have spoken the same langwidge as yours. Had they met they wouldn’t have talked——just started pointing, mixing, stirring, shaking, licking finger samples, etc. I’m still remembering stove top cinnamon rolls and rolling pin noodles, which I was in charge of slicing into edible size strips. We didn’t have a lot to work with during the war years but Gramma made it edible.
