On 24 November 2012 Paul Larson, sailing the Vestas Sailrocket 2, clocked in at 65.45 knots (75.32 mph) over a 500 meter stretch in Walvis Bay, Namibia. The week before he set the Nautical Mile record at 55.32 knots (63.66 mph) in the same location.

The Trans Atlantic, West-to-East, Crewed. sailing record was set on Sunday 2 August 2009, by the Banque Populaire V. She established the new record of 3 days, 15 hours, 25 minutes and 48 seconds with an average speed of 32.94 knots (37.91 mph).
