To: Red in Blue PA

Prayers for the poor man who was shot; he is in critical condition.

You cannot have civilization and plenty without some degree of forbearance and imagination.

Why is it not in people like this to ask, will I really care about this can of gravy, or this perceived slight, tomorrow or next week, or next year?

Do they expect to kill someone and not care about it next year? Maybe, if the murders solved rate is low, or the conviction rate is low, or the progressive prosecutor is willing to look the other way, maybe they won’t be in prison, and they won’t have to care.

To think like that requires that you develop certain skills like delayed gratification, considering consequences, etc. And you simply cannot just develop those skills at any time. If they are not well developed by a certain stage of childhood, you will never acquire them for the rest of your life.
