As I see it, store owners in places like that have two choices.
Option 1. Sell everything from behind bulletproof glass. The customer hands you a list along with payment. You get the merchandise, and hand it to the customer.
Option 2. Get out of Dodge while you still can.
And as a side note, I feel for the merchants who have to put up with all the thefts and all the violence. But I also feel for the many good folks in those areas who end up living in food deserts. Perhaps they should consider voting Republican for a change.
