A 17-year-old is accused of snatching a gun from a Dunkin’ customer in Georgia and shooting him to death in the parking lot, according to local reports.
The teen, Lamarion Orr, was arrested Friday and charged with murder, 11 Alive reported. Police have identified the victim as 41-year-old Brian Dykes.

(DeKalb County Sheriff's Office) Witnesses told police that Orr saw a gun in Dykes’ waistline and grabbed it from his pants just before 9 a.m. on Friday. Dykes reportedly chased Orr outside and a struggle ensued before the teen shot and killed Dykes.

.....sadly, I have to agree....I know a lot of folks here (hey, this is TEXAS, dude....!!) who carry but carry concealed...no sense in tempting someone like this feral animal to try to take your open-carried handgun...this situation could have been avoided with a bit of foresight...jus’ sayin’ .....

Public spirited of him to try to recover the weapon - but not the best plan, IMO.
I like to carry in ankle holster with jeans. Extra couple of seconds to retrieve it…. But it is always concealed.
Dykes made two mistakes.
This news report from channel 11 Atlanta disgusts me almost as much as the crime.

Just reading the title you would think 2 guys just saw a firearm laying on the ground, both grabbed it simultaneously and a fight ensued. After reading down in the article you see one was clearly a victim trying to retrieve valuable property.

Exactly why I won’t open carry.
A rite of passage for young black males. He’ll join his buddies in prison for a few years, get out, and then commit more crimes. If he were to try to get an education and make something of himself, he’d be accused of ‘acting white’.

But the two of you are right.
Concealed carry should be concealed carry.
Great. Now Dunkin’ will become a gun free company to law abiding citizens and a free fire zone to youts and other criminal scum.
This is why I don’t like open carry, and strongly suggest that if you insist on open carry, that you do so using a well-designed Retention holster that positively and automatically locks the gun in the holster and requires the activation of a release mechanism before the weapon can be drawn.
A snapped leather strap does not count as positive retention.

The Lamarions all need to spend a little less time playing with their hair and more time doing something besides rap rhymes.
