The constant claim that Trump deferred to the advice of the supposed experts around him like Fauci, and therefore Fauci is to blame for everything, don’t add up when compared to Trump’s own statements on the matter. Here’s just one example, but there are other interviews where he says the same thing:

“Dr. Fauci, who I always got along with pretty well, but I usually did the opposite of what he wanted,” Trump said. “Fauci said the vaccine would take three to five years and probably wouldn’t even happen. And I got it done in less than nine months.”
“I think the best bet ever made was I bought millions and billions of dollars of vaccine before we knew it worked, before we had it approved...”
No matter what, Trump got it done, regardless of the effectiveness of the vaccine. I doubt anybody else would have gotten the job done so quickly.
It’s very easy to have 20/20 hindsight after the fact. Trump got it started and the country did the rest, no matter what the results and no matter what the vaccine makers did and no matter what the experts around him said or did. Without Trump, Fauci would have just been lost in the crowd, and nobody would be talking about him.
Again, Monday-morning quarterbacking doesn’t matter when the deed is done, consequences and all.
