Back in the FORTRAN punch card days I did some assembly language work on CDC machines. I became as fluent in octal as I was in decimal. I was lost when things went to hexadecimal - I found a new career.

And I stayed in it for 44 years.
When I would run on my lunch break (back in the day) I would do hex arithmetic in my head to take my mind off of running.
When I was employed, it was hexadecimal. Can’t remember if they covered hexadecimal in college.
