The 2023 Pro Bowl introduced a new format that eliminated the traditional tackle football all-star game that we’ve seen in years past. With players putting forth only a marginal effort and so many players opting out in the name of health and safety, the Pro Bowl simply hasn’t meant what it did in years past.
The NFL’s attempt at fixing this event featured skills challenges for several major position groups on Thursday night, then capped things off Sunday with three flag football games coached by the Manning brothers and a few more skills competitions.
Yesterday, Chris asked if you guys were fans of the new format. Now that we’ve seen the end result, did you think it was the right move?
Question of the day: Was the 2023 Pro Bowl a success?

Just like the Pro Bowl always has.
It was awful. We saw snippets last night at one of the local watering holes. The only audience it was playing to was the gynocracy and to minorities.
I’ve never watched a Pro Bowl. They don’t put any effort into it.
I glanced at it and turned it off. It is like what the Pebble Beach golf pro-am has become: a bunch of showing off and mugging for the cameras, with media becoming too close to - even part of - the action. It is the new bread-and-circuses reality, perfect for the Oprah generation.
I WOULD RATHER WATCH 3 HOURS OF LIBERTY-EMU COMMERCIALS
They should follow the lead of the College All-Star game.
Just end it.
It did not just suck. It sucked the entire contents of the Chicago sewage treatment system. Bone dry. Spotless.
“I’ve seen teams suck before, but those were the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.”
I had it playing in the background while working online, but I could never have actually sat and concentrated on it.
Ditto the NHL All-Star Game the day before. Since the whole set of games were played 3-on-3 like overtime, every time I looked up from my computer someone had scored a goal. As the Gilbert&Sullivan line goes, if everybody’s somebody, then no one’s anybody.
Pitifully.
Move it to pre-season (Hall of Fame weekend).
I don’t know. There were many with AIDS that sucked more. At least some of them
I’m old enough to remember back when the college Allstars played the pros.
It was sure as heck more entertaining than that BS yester.
Didn’t watch it. Didn’t watch the Grammys either, which sucked worse so I hear.
In the past it meant something because pro bowlers got paid real money to make the team and play, today the risk for injury is way too high when the lowest player in the league is making a million a season...today Probowlers are making 5-40+ million a season...why risk a concussion or knee injury when you have that much at stake...just end it.
Didn’t even know it occurred. Yawn.
“They should follow the lead of the College All-Star game.
Just end it.”
Not when the nfl has a chance to make a buck
I kept my streak intact. Avoided it for 73 straight years!
