You would be better off praying or studying how to become closer to God then reading one person's opinion on bible history. Such studies are nice but don't enhance your relationship with God.

I respectfully disagree. It's important that we have the most accurate translations available to preserve as best we can The Written Word. That cannot be done without understanding the original source material. I'll quote again a portion of the book's introduction copied in the earlier post.

We cannot dispense with a single word of Holy Writ; the removal of a part would mar the completeness and connection of the whole.
